Dear Visitor, Another Chance at Sorting the Men from the Boys... Actually, you can’t do that anymore. Nor you can sort men from women, or the fit from the less able. But you probably knew all that. But did you also know that you can no longer ask a job applicant to complete a medical questionnaire prior to job offer? Or that you can’t ask a candidate if they can climb a ladder, even if they need to do that in their job? The Equality Act 2010 is all encompassing and brings together many separate strands of anti- discrimination legislation. It can be seen as a rather unwieldy beast but in this session we help to demystify the regulations and give you advice on acting within the law. Due to the November event being postponed, you have the opportunity to attend this breakfast workshop we are doing in partnership with Hampshire Chamber of Commerce. Laura Davis, Director of HR Solutions 4U, will be talking about avoiding the equality pitfalls during the recruitment process, creating a working environment that is inclusive, tackling harassment and bullying in the workplace and monitoring equality. Gemma Woodhouse from Penningtons solicitors will be speaking about the details of the Equality Act and sharing some case law, demonstrating how employers have got it wrong. Make sure you don’t fall foul of the Equality Act by attending this essential session. Date: Wednesday 11 January 2012 Time: 8.00am to 9.45am Venue: Grove House, Lutyens Close, Chineham, Basingstoke RG24 8AG Cost: £13.50 for Chamber members, £16.50 for non members Book: Call 01256 352275 If you can’t make the date, or you would rather have more specific employment guidance, please contact HR Solutions 4U on 01256 328428. |
